Each zone is comprised of multiple rooms in a grid layout. All non-special rooms contain enemies and have a high likelihood of containing a shrine. A room cannot be exited while there are alive enemies in it, even if they spawned afterwards.

Special rooms
Some rooms start with no enemies and specially marked in the minimap.
Arena
Has a lever that can be used up to 3 times to spawn enemies. When defeated, a chest will spawn.
Bank
Can deposit or withdraw coins.
Boss
Contains the boss and the portal to the next area. Guaranteed to spawn.
Golden chest
Contains a locked chest. Sometimes has an extra chest behind a wall that deals 12.5 damage when walked through. Guaranteed to spawn.
Huginn's shop
Sells equipment, healing and stat boosts.
Library
Contains an ability book or scroll. Requires a key to open.
Muinn's armory
Sells weapons and clip improvements.
Treasure room
Contains 4 equipment items. Whenever one is picked up, the other 4 will lower into bottomless pits.
