Custom Music Guide[edit]

Selecting your Song[edit]

BPM accepts any tempo/bpm you give it until 240bpm; the game won't accept any tempo above 240bpm. However, if the bpm is higher than 120bpm for example, the game recalibrates the music by halving the bpm until it is below 120bpm. A side effect of this is that the in-game half beats become full beats. Since BPM's OST is 88bpm, it's recommended to have a bpm of 80-100.

Finding Tempo[edit]

Use this website to see what it thinks the tempo of the song is: https://tunebat.com/ To double check, manually count along to the song with this: https://www.all8.com/tools/bpm.htm

Confirm / Adjust Tempo[edit]

Drag the song into Audacity and insert a metronome by going to Generate -> Rhythm Track. You can then align the metronome to the song by moving your cursor above the metronome waveforms until your cursor turns into a hand and drag.

Potential Issues: When you play through the song and you may find the tempo drifting away, this could be a sign that the tempo you inputted is wrong. The bpm must be a whole number for it to work. If the song's bpm is in decimals, you can change the tempo to a whole number by going to Effect -> Change Tempo. If the tempo changes during the song, highlight the section of the song where the tempo changed and change the it to the tempo you want. If tha track is playing but no rythm indicator is shown the game probably cant read the bpm you set. Watch out for the space before the number!

Export Track[edit]

Go to File -> Export -> Export as WAV.

File format: "<song name> XXbpm" (Example: "cool track 80bpm"). ! NOTE the space before {number}bpm is important

If you used a Rhythm Track to confirm the Tempo, be sure to delete it before exporting!

Add Track/s To BPM Directory[edit]

Go to your Steam library and right-click BPM: BULLETS PER MINUTE -> Properties -> Local Files -> Browse -> WindowsNoEditor -> BPM -> CustomSoundtrack. Place the track in the folder for the level you want it to play in. Putting tracks in the Default folder makes the game pick one of the tracks at random for a level. Remember the order the levels play in are: - Asgard1 - Asgard2 - Vanaheim1 - Vanaheim2 - Svartalfheim1 - Svartalfheim2 - Helheim1 - Helheim2

Enable Custom Music[edit]

In the main menu, go to Settings -> Audio, and turn on Custom Music.
